The New Bern Riverfront Convention Center is actually
owned by Craven County. The Convention center was built by the
County primarily to facilitate travel and tourism as well as to provide a first
rate convention and banquet facility for Eastern North Carolina. Many questioned the need for the County to go into the Convention Center
business and were skeptical about the Center being able to attract the
business needed to turn a profit. Few would question that decision now.
The Convention Center stays booked year around and director Sandy
Chamberlain tells us they have reservations out as far as 2012. Many
corporations, trade groups, and government entities say New Bern has the best
Convention Center in North Carolina. Why? Keep reading.

unique to this area and are a result of the work of professional boat carpenters
that often worked on homes in the off season.
